Machinist III

We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Machinist III on nights to join our team at our Bloomfield, Connecticut location. Night shift hours are 3:15pm to 12:45am Monday through Friday, as business needs currently dictate one hour of mandatory daily overtime.

Summary:

Maintain effectiveness when experiencing changes in work environment; willingly embraces new approaches; seeks new situations as opportunities. Understands manufacturing processes and products produced. Displays familiarity with machining knowledge; understands and effectively employs knowledge.

Responsibilities:

• With limited technical supervision, check out programming, set up, operate and adjust computer numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications
• Work from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
• Self-sufficient with material clamping methods, machine adjustments/offsets and console settings
• Operations include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations
• Perform other tasks as required to drive results.

Education:

• High School diploma/GED
• Machining Training Certificate preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist

Skills / Knowledge

• Understand common Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) symbols and restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
• Proficient in shop math
• Solid communication skills (verbal, written) and ability work independently as well as within a team
• Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
• Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve machining problems as they arise.

• Frequent mental and visual attention
• Frequent bending, twisting
• Frequent grasping items and tools
• Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to aerospace machining noise, fumes, metal chips, coolant
