Job Summary
The Training Manager is responsible for leading the training program for flight and ground operations, adhering to regulatory compliance through audits and continual reviews, and being a subject matter expert for flight operations and programs.
Job Responsibilities
1. Training Program Development and Implementation
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs specific to the air cargo industry, including topics such as flight and ground training, cargo handling, safety procedures, security protocols, equipment operation, and regulatory compliance.
- Train and manage flight and ground instructors to deliver effective training and ensure consistency across departments.
- Schedule and conduct regular training across departments (HAZMAT, TSA, Forklift, and Grounds, Sim, and Flight operations) to ensure that employees are well-equipped to perform their jobs efficiently.
- Seek continuous improvement by assessing implemented programs to meet company and industry standards.
2. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure that training programs adhere to local, national, and international aviation regulations, and that all staff are trained in compliance with relevant laws.
- Lead record audits and inspections by maintaining accurate training records and ensuring all staff are up to date with the required certifications.
- Review and update Pilot Records Database (PRD) to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements for all pilots.
- Assist in revising and updating training manuals to ensure accuracy and alignment with current procedures and standards.
3. Flight Operations and Programs
- Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) to maintain flight currency, proficiency, and meet all recency requirements.
- Serve as Jet Insight subject matter expert, train Flight Coordinators and provide support with scheduling and flight coordination activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee instructors and provide feedback on their performance as well as ongoing coaching and training as necessary.
- Create schedules for direct reports and track and manage their attendance.
- Communicate effectively with instructors to meet departmental expectations.
Physical Duties and Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and use a computer.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol.
- Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
- Must be able to communicate with employees regarding concerns in a confidential manner.
- Occasional travel between office locations or to off-site meetings/events.
- Maintains current 293,297, 299, Flight Instructor and Check Airman Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Competent in Microsoft 365 Suite and Kamaka Air's scheduling software.
- Current CFI, but CFII desirable.
- Ability to complete tasks expeditiously while identifying methods to improve the training environment and capabilities.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for delivering effective and engaging training sessions.
