KAM Plastics is an employee owned (ESOP), premier manufacturing company with expertise in plastic injection molding and assembly. We serve multiple markets including automotive, furniture, military, and consumer products.
JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Account Manager is responsible for generating new business, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting projects from concept through production. This role is vital to KAM’s strategic goal of expanding into non-automotive markets while continuing to serve and grow existing automotive accounts.
Automotive contacts and experience are beneficial, but non-automotive market experience and networks are a significant advantage, as expanding into other industries is a strategic priority for KAM.
The ideal candidate is relationship-focused, technically capable, and able to clearly communicate KAM’s value as a custom injection molding partner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 5–8 years of sales experience in plastic injection molding, manufacturing, engineered products, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success in generating new business, expanding existing accounts, and managing complex customer relationships.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Self-directed and disciplined, with the ability to work independently while engaging cross-functional support teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Automotive customer contacts are beneficial; experience in non-automotive markets (such as consumer goods, industrial, outdoor, furniture, or medical) is highly valuable.
- Understanding of plastic processing, tooling, and part design for manufacturability (DFM) preferred.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Growth & Market Development
- Develop strategic sales plans and opportunity forecasts to drive growth.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, with a strong focus on non-automotive markets.
- Leverage existing automotive relationships when advantageous.
- Implement sales and marketing strategies that support profitable growth for both KAM and our Mexico division, KAMEX Molded Products.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with customer engineering, purchasing, and program management personnel.
Customer & Account Management
- Serve as the primary customer point of contact, ensuring needs are met from RFQ through production.
- Support customers in refining part designs, materials, and manufacturability by coordinating with KAM’s engineering and tooling teams.
- Anticipate customer needs and drive proactive communication to maintain satisfaction and account stability.
Program & Commercial Management
- Support all commercial activities across the full program lifecycle—from concept, quoting, and award through tooling, launch, and production.
- Gather all required customer data for accurate bill of materials (BOM) and cost development.
- Collaborate in developing competitive, accurate product pricing.
- Coordinate RFQs, proposals, and customer submissions with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure commercial closure of open items, including engineering changes, PPAP requirements, and agreement on pricing or terms.
- Provide on-site customer support during program launches as needed.
Periodic travel will be required to support customer visits, program launches, and business development activities.
