Position Summary
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring parts and services to support Kalow’s production operations. This role partners with vendors to ensure the best possible pricing, delivery, and payment terms, while maintaining accurate cost data and inventory levels. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in both communication and negotiation. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components and assemblies is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze customer forecasts and purchasing shortage reports.
- Solicit and track vendor quotes for materials and services.
- Generate and manage purchase orders; ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Communicate purchase status updates with internal departments.
- Maintain and update product Bills of Material and vendor records.
- Track and manage material and freight costs to ensure pricing accuracy.
- Research and onboard new vendors to support company needs.
- Monitor inventory levels to meet company inventory-turn goals.
- Negotiate cost savings with vendors through pricing, terms, and other strategies.
- Coordinate product returns with Manufacturing and Quality teams.
- Schedule and conduct cycle counts.
- Process packing slips and receivers as needed.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of purchasing experience.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems).
- Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical parts (preferred).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
- Ability to speak Mandarin Chinese is a plus but not required.
