Sales Manager – Nutraceutical Specialty Ingredients
The East Coast Sales Manager will drive sales of branded, clinically-studied ingredients to dietary supplement and nutraceutical brands across the Eastern United States. This role builds relationships with brand owners, R&D teams, and formulators to grow adoption of the ingredient portfolio into new and existing product lines. Ideal candidates bring technical fluency in clinical studies and formulation benefits, consultative B2B sales experience, and an established network within the dietary supplement and VMS industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent a diverse portfolio of ingredients and technologies tailored to market demand
- Manage and grow existing business across the Eastern United States, leveraging established relationships with dietary supplement and VMS companies
- Drive ingredient sales using a value-based, consultative selling approach
- Identify and support customer projects that lead to long-term partnerships and revenue growth
- Collaborate on new product development, customer formulation challenges, and market expansion initiatives
- Regularly engage with R&D, procurement, marketing, and product development teams within client organizations
- Monitor regional market dynamics, including regulatory changes, competitor activity, and unmet customer needs
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of sales experience in dietary supplement ingredients, CMO/CDMO services, or specialty foods
- Established client relationships within the dietary supplement and/or VMS industry, whether through branded ingredient sales or CMO/CDMO business development
- Proven ability to manage key accounts and lead technical discussions with customers
- Experience introducing new products and executing innovation strategies in a competitive environment
- Goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and an initiative-driven mindset
- Comfortable working independently in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM/sales automation tools
- Solid understanding of marketing and customer insights, including product performance, application needs, and market trends
- Ability to explain technical features and benefits to a wide range of stakeholders
- Knowledge of pricing strategy and commercial negotiation
- Willingness to travel 50%, including trade shows and overnight trips, to support and grow customer accounts
Compensation: $120,000 - $135,000 base, plus bonus, full benefits, 401 (k) match, etc.
