Medical Assistant — Athenix (Bellevue, WA)

Position Summary
The Medical Assistant provides pre- and post-operative patient care and supports clinical and administrative workflows. You will help ensure positive patient experiences by preparing patients and treatment rooms, assisting clinical staff, maintaining supplies and equipment, and performing routine clinical tasks within scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for appointments and procedures; obtain vitals and document accurately in the medical record
- Support pre-op and post-op workflows: calling patients with instructions, taking photos and measurements, garment fittings, coordinating consents, dressing/drain/staple/suture care, and discharge instructions
- Assist clinical staff and physician during exams, procedures, and injections (within scope of training) and act as circulating assistant during surgical cases
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection per policy; coordinate lab pickups and escalate abnormal results
- Operate and maintain treatment equipment (e.g., VelaShape/VenusLegacy) and follow sanitation/sterilization protocols
- Maintain organized, secure patient photos and documentation; ensure clean, well-stocked clinical areas and manage inventory/supplies
- Adhere to narcotics handling policies, including counts and documentation where applicable and permitted by law
- Provide patient education on treatments, products, and post-op care; respond to patient questions professionally and promptly
- Assist front desk and administrative tasks as needed; support smooth patient flow and clinic readiness
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and onboarding activities; support a positive team environment

Education & Experience Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (state certification where employed) and/or completed Medical Assistant training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Minimum of a High School Diploma
- Previous experience in surgical, aesthetic, dermatology, or high-volume clinical settings preferred
- Experience with vitals, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, wound/dressing care; experience with injectables a plus (per scope and training)
