IT Portfolio & Finance Analyst
· Must be able to work on-site in Cambridge, MA full time
· Six-month contract 1099 position with potential to transition to full time FTE within 3-6 months for the right candidate.
Summary:
The IT Portfolio & Finance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the leadership team of an R&D IT department within a large pharmaceutical company with financial modeling and forecasting, project portfolio monitoring, vendor/contract management, and overall portfolio operations. This role requires close collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders, including business owners, senior management, technical experts, project managers, external partners, vendors, and administrative staff. The ideal candidate will be proficient in finance fundamentals with a solid understanding of IT operations and a strong sense of teamwork. They will demonstrate a helpful and proactive attitude, ensuring satisfaction across stakeholders and partners, by building and maintaining positive relationships with cross-functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Monthly monitoring of portfolio costs and ensuring adherence to budget guidelines. Identify discrepancies (risks and affordability) early and communicate them effectively.
- Troubleshoot portfolio-related challenges by effectively leveraging available resources, including data, tools, team input, process documentation
- Assist in operational aspects of vendor management, including contract reviews, request submission and PO, invoice tracking.
- Contribute to creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, and guidelines for portfolio-related processes.
- Lead portfolio process improvement by identifying and addressing inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or redundant steps in operational processes.
- Educate team members on project management processes and tools.
Education or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as finance, accounting, IT, data analytics, or portfolio management. Science degrees will also be considered.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications as well as data visualization tools, including Power BI.
- Experience with financial forecasting and budget management required, including knowledge of core accounting principles and terminology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to report on and monitor project performance.
- Strong attention to detail, especially while managing competing priorities and juggling multiple tasks.
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible in the midst of competing priorities.
- Experience demonstrating diplomatic leadership and influence across a broad range of stakeholders, such as in a Chief of Staff role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior experience in the life sciences industry is preferred.
