The Kalkaska County Commission on Aging is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organized individual to join our team as a Home Delivered Meals Driver. This position plays an important role in supporting older adults throughout Kalkaska County by delivering nutritious meals while providing friendly contact and support to homebound seniors. It’s more than just a meal through the Home Delivered Meal Program.
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Customer service and delivery experience preferred
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License required
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with accurate reporting abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest, enthusiasm, and desire to work with older adults
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a positive attitude
Primary Responsibilities
- Pack meals for delivery and ensure delivery accuracy
- Deliver hot meals, frozen meals, sack lunches, commodities, newsletters, and other materials to homebound clients
- Follow food safety procedures, including monitoring food temperatures during delivery routes
- Rotate freezer meals in clients’ homes and manage returned meals appropriately
- Rotate stock using FIFO procedures and assist with inventory control
- Clean coolers, caddies, and delivery vehicles regularly
- Complete daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns
- Maintain required records and reporting paperwork
- Observe and report concerns regarding client wellbeing or home conditions
- Attend required staff trainings and perform additional duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, walk, talk, hear, reach, and handle objects and equipment
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Position Schedule
· Monday – Friday
· Hours vary, up to 29.75 hours, avg. hours per week is 25 hours per week
· No nights or weekends
· No Holidays
Conditions of Employment
Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including but not limited to:

- Driver’s license and driving record review
- Verification of education, licenses, or certifications
- Drug testing as permitted by law
The Kalkaska County Commission on Aging is an at-will employer and does not guarantee length of employment or continued funding for this position.
