Summary of functions

Under supervision of the finishing Supervisor, inspects for stains and tears, dry folds linens, feeds linens into Feeder Spreaders, folds linens coming out of the Flat-Work ironer folders, feeds towels into folding machines and loads linen carts with folded linens.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluates and selects, procures, receives stores, places into service, processes, monitors usage, removes from service and disposes of all contracted washable materials.
Understands and ensures compliance to health, safety and environmental requirements and regulations as applicable to the laundry operation. (Tribal, State and Federal)
Ensures that the laundry operation is kept clean and safe
Maintains a record of items being “ragged out” due to damage, age or stains.
Monitors any textile damages (chemical damage, microorganism damage, manufacturing damage, damage in laundry plant, dye transfer and informs laundry management.
Knows all Towel Folders, Ironer / feeder and dryers.
Understands wash temperatures, formulas and gauges for control.
Responsible for preparation of operating and preventative maintenance to insure machine life expectancies.
Abides all safety regulations. Uses safety equipment where required. Uses all equipment, machinery, cleaning products and materials issued strictly according to the proper methods and or instructions.
Establishes and maintains consistently high standards of customer services and vendor relations.
Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
Ensures control / protection of company assets.
Ensures compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Internal Controls, and KTEA Policies and Procedures.
Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for business levels.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Must have verbal ability to discuss job requirements and problems with the finishing Supervisor.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department heads and team members.

Skill in solving practical problems in a high demand position.

Excellent organization skills, communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrates ability to be proactive and remain positive in a multi-tasking, high demand position.

Flexible with scheduling to operations demands.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Visual acuity is necessary to detect imperfections in linens in linen articles and machine discrepancies.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations

Ability to obtain and maintain a Kalispel Work Permit.

Must have reliable transportation

Hepatitis A & B vaccinations

Emotional Demands : Able to alter plans / routines when expected, stressful situations and multiple interruptions occur without projecting stress / frustration that would adversely affect the work environment.

Motor coordination and manual dexterity are necessary, to coordinate eyes and hands, as well as, move fingers and hands, to manipulate articles rapidly, for steady work flow.

Occasionally involves light work : exerting up to 20 pounds frequently, with the ability to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, turn, reach for and lift linens constantly during an 8 hour shift.

Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discrimination in sound.

Constantly requires verbally expressing or exchanging ideas of important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.

Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and / or fingers.

Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.

Occasionally requires standing and / or sitting for sustained periods of time.

Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.

Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Infrequently requires crouching.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Subject to exposure of environmental conditions which may include extreme heat, cold and wet / humid / windy conditions
