Hospitality Aide/Smoking Attendant
Department: Nursing
General Summary

Under the supervision of the assigned LPN, RN or Unit Manager RN, provides activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, safety and comfort of residents/patients as assigned. Assists in providing a positive physical, social and psychological environment. Follows all center policies and procedures. |
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure water jug/pitchers are filled with fresh water
- All cups are stocked and available
- Empty Trash as needed
- Ensure smoking area and walkways are free of cigarette butts
- Ensure smoking area is free of blankets and food remnants
- Empty ash trays
- Empty any butt bins if applicable
- Ensure that the emergency pull cord(s) are intact
- Supervise the residents while in the smoking area
- Collect any and all smoking materials and complete collection log
- Clean smoking aprons/charge Vapes
- Round the parking lot/employee smoking area and collect trash and cigarette butts
- Supervises residents during scheduled smoking breaks
- Ensures resident safety at all times
- Distributes smoking materials as needed
- Maintains the smoking area ensuring it is clean and organized
- Documents and communicates any concerns or incidents to nursing staff
- Appropriately records charges for supplies.
- Participates in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care (“IPOC”) process as assigned.
- Follows work assignments and schedules.
- *Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Center’s
- Compliance Program.
- Attends and participates in in-service training, performance improvement (“PI”) committees and other
- meetings as scheduled and directed.
- Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.
- Follows center dress and hygiene policies.

- Performs other duties as directed by center management
- Works overtime, holidays and weekends as scheduled
Physical Demands
The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling. Tasks marked with an asterisk (*) are those that regularly require these physical activities. All employees of nursing homes may be required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents/patients. Lifting and/or transferring some residents/patients will require the use of a lifting device and/or assistance of other staff.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens.
This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with a, 24 hour skilled care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population. Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: emergency health or safety response, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in a nursing home, death and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff.
HIPAA is a law that must be followed by all healthcare personnel at every level. This position is a Mandated Reporter regarding the suspicion of elder abuse and may have access to Protected Health Information (PHI)

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other center staff. Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly. Possess special interest n, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents/patients and the elderly. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Salary : $17 - $19
