Maintenance Electrician

1st Shift | 7:00am – 3:00pm

$33–$35/hour

Wabash, IN | Metal Melting & Processing Facility

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Maintenance Electrician to become the primary electrical resource within a well-established metal melting and processing facility.

This position is available because the current electrician—who has spent many years building the plant's electrical systems and knowledge—is planning to retire in January. Rather than simply replacing that experience after it's gone, the company is making the investment now by bringing in the next electrician early.

You'll work alongside a highly experienced mentor, gaining firsthand knowledge of the facility, equipment, systems, and troubleshooting methods before taking ownership of the role. Opportunities like this are rare and provide a smooth transition into a position with tremendous long-term stability.

The company is locally owned, financially stable, and known for treating employees well. They also believe in developing their people and are willing to invest in additional technical training and continuing education to help you continue growing throughout your career.

Schedule & Pay

  • 1st Shift: 7:00am – 3:00pm
  • $33–$35/hour, based on experience
  • Some weekend work required to support maintenance outside of production hours
  • Overtime available based on production demands and capital projects

What You'll Be Doing

This role serves as the facility's primary electrical resource, focused on troubleshooting, system reliability, and continuous improvement.

Electrical Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair 480V, 3-phase electrical systems
  • Diagnose issues involving motors, power distribution, drives, and control systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Install and maintain wiring, conduit, and electrical components
  • Troubleshoot and support Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC systems
  • Identify root causes of failures and implement long-term corrective solutions

The majority of your time will be spent troubleshooting equipment and maintaining reliable plant operation, with additional opportunities to participate in equipment upgrades and improvement projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical maintenance when needed
  • Assist with equipment installations and process improvements
  • Perform preventative maintenance during scheduled downtime
  • Collaborate with operations to minimize equipment downtime

Training & Professional Development

This company believes great electricians are developed—not simply hired.

As part of your transition into the role, you'll receive:

  • One-on-one training alongside the retiring Maintenance Electrician
  • Hands-on knowledge transfer covering plant equipment and electrical systems
  • Exposure to years of troubleshooting experience and facility-specific expertise
  • Company-paid technical training opportunities to continue expanding your skills throughout your career

Whether it's additional PLC training, electrical coursework, or other approved technical education, leadership is committed to investing in employee development.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience with industrial electrical systems (480V, 3-phase)
  • Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs (both preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Proven electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
  • Industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience (5 years preferred)
  • Electrical license or ability to meet licensing requirements

Experience with one PLC platform is acceptable—training can be provided on the other.

Work Environment

  • Industrial metal processing facility
  • Hands-on electrical troubleshooting throughout the plant
  • Physical work including ladders, lifts, and equipment access
  • Exposure to typical industrial conditions including heat, noise, and moving equipment

Benefits

  • Very affordable health, dental, and vision insurance with excellent coverage
  • Employer-paid life insurance
  • Stable company with many long-tenured employees
  • Company-paid technical training and professional development opportunities

Why This Company Stands Out

  • Succession opportunity with months of one-on-one training before retirement
  • Learn directly from a highly experienced electrician before taking ownership of the role
  • Locally owned with strong financial backing
  • Leadership that values skilled trades and trusts employee expertise
  • Long-term career stability with opportunities for continued technical growth
  • A chance to become the go-to electrical expert for the facility

The Bottom Line

If you're an experienced industrial electrician who enjoys solving complex problems and wants more than just another maintenance job, this is an outstanding opportunity.

You'll inherit a well-established role, spend months learning from the person who's built it over many years, and continue developing your skills through company-sponsored training—all while joining a stable organization that's committed to long-term investment in its people.
