About the Opportunity:

Kaleidoscope Supply Services is an administrative support services organization supporting a top-tier vegetation management contractor serving the electric utility industry. Our mission is to maintain safety and reliability across utility corridors while supporting wildfire prevention efforts throughout California. We’re hiring a Utility Vegetation Management Planner to support a key customer territory in Milpitas (supporting PG&E service districts).

What You’ll Do:

As a Planner, you'll coordinate field operations related to tree trimming and vegetation clearance around PG&E infrastructure, which includes working directly with end customers/residents to resolve scheduling challenges. You will interact with property owners, utility partners, crews and back-office administration to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety. Planners are expected to work both in the office and in the field as necessary to ensure the work is cleared for crew execution on the scheduled dates. Depending upon how work is released, planners may often spend more time in the office or field depending upon the assignments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct systematic office and field reviews of issued work for line clearance operations.

  • Develop detailed vegetation work plans for tree pruning, removals, and herbicide applications.

  • Communicate with landowners to discuss access, schedule work, and gain necessary permissions.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve planned and/or unplanned work variances including wood hauls, etc.

  • Ensure all vegetation work complies with safety, regulatory, and utility standards.

  • Record and track progress using GIS tools and mobile platforms.

  • Liaise with customers, businesses, and government contacts on scope, access, and scheduling.

  • Navigate urban and wildland environments in all weather conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3 years in arboriculture, horticulture, or vegetation management OR a degree (2-year or 4-year) in a related field.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Proficiency with GIS, digital mapping, mobile apps, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong communication skills and professionalism with customer interactions.

  • Able to work independently in varied terrain and environmental conditions.

  • Reliable transportation to assigned reporting location.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with utility vegetation management, GO95 compliance, or wildfire mitigation.

  • Certification(s): ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist, TRAQ, CTSP, or OSHA-30.

  • Familiarity with PG&E or SMUD vegetation clearance standards.

  • Experience with Traffic Control permitting and setups.

  • Experience with MUTCD application.

  • Experience with State and Local Municipalities for Traffic Control Permitting.
