Purpose
The Quality Assurance Manager / Inspector is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring that products meet customers, regulatory, and industry requirements. This position oversees quality system activities, performs inspection functions, and promotes continuous improvement in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System
- Manage the quality system for the organization and serve as the management representative for the quality system in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.
- Monitor quality system performance and report metrics, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities to management.
- Coordinate internal audits, management review meetings, and external customer or registrar audits.
- Maintain document control and quality record management systems.
- Facilitate corrective and preventive actions to support continuous improvement.
- Develop, maintain, and implement quality system procedures and work instructions.
- Serve as a liaison with customers, suppliers, registrars, and regulatory agencies on quality-related matters.
Inspection and Quality Control
- Have adequate technical knowledge of dimensional inspection, heat treating, and plating.
- Perform receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections in accordance with company procedures and applicable specifications.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and customer requirements.
- Verify material certifications and documentation, including heat numbers, hardness, and vendor processing records.
- Identify, document, and control nonconforming materials and products in coordination with Supply Chain and management.
- Conduct random production inspections to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Support production and operations to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
Measurement and Calibration
- Verify and calibrate the measuring and test equipment (M&TE) to ensure accuracy and traceability of precision gauges to NIST traceable masters.
- Maintain calibration records and coordinate internal or external calibration services as required.
- Train personnel on the proper use of measuring and test equipment using best practices.
Customer and Organizational Support
- Assist in resolving customer quality concerns and complaints with technical information sharing, problem resolution, and order coordination.
- Provide technical support related to product specifications and quality requirements.
- Train employees on quality procedures and system requirements as applicable.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, sales, administration, and management to support company quality objectives.
- Monitor and report to management the performance of the quality system, and any system discrepancies or opportunities for improvement through corrective and preventative action plans with improvements.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in both written and verbal formats.
- Utilize Microsoft 365 and company systems to maintain and share quality information.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
1–3 years of experience in quality inspection, quality management, or a related manufacturing role. Experience working within ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems is preferred.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
