Position Summary:
Kalamazoo Housing Advocates is seeking reliable and compassionate Front Desk Volunteers to serve as the first point of contact for community members seeking housing support and resources. This role is essential in creating a welcoming, respectful, and organized environment for clients, staff, and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and clients in a friendly, professional manner
- Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate staff or resources
- Schedule appointments and maintain sign-in logs
- Provide basic information about available services and programs
- Assist with light administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and organizing materials
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and lobby area
- Uphold client confidentiality and organizational policies at all times
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and respectful in a variety of situations
- Basic computer skills (email, data entry, scheduling tools)
- Reliable and punctual
- Interest in housing justice, community service, or social support work preferred
Training & Support:
- Orientation and on-site training provided
- De escalation training
- Ongoing support from staff and volunteer coordinators
