Assistant Varsity Girls\' Soccer Coach
Season begin date: August 2026
Season end date: October 2026
Salary: $2,845 - $3,300 (DOE)
Location: Kalama High School, Kalama, WA
Coaching position is not eligible for health or retirement benefits.
JOB SUMMARY: This position provides direction under the guidance of the head soccer coach to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. To value and promote the worth of each participant while effectively leading players and staff to achieve their individual and collective potential. Work is performed under the direction of the head coach, Principal and Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous Coaching experience preferred
- Possess reasoning ability to solve practical problems
- Per WIAA - minimum age for head coach is 21 years of age, assistant coach is 19 years of age
- Be able to pass a screening test to provide transportation for student athletes if necessary
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials and spectators
- Must complete SafeSchools and WIAA Final Forms required training prior to the beginning of the sport\'s season
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Models non discriminatory practices in all activities
- Supervises and maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security
- Distributes and collects equipment, supplies and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach
- Participates in special activities to include parent\'s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies
- Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records
- Provides instruction to students in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises
- Assesses students\' skills, monitors students during competition and practice
- Provides determining game strategy
- Work in collaboration with the high school soccer coach(es)
- Become familiar with and promote the core values of the school\'s Athletic Program
- Serve as a positive role model for students
- Responsible assisting the head coach in planning, organizing, and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities and programs for the team
- Assist the head coach at all practices
- Assist head coach in organizing and coaching all games
- Assist with sports promotion and development
- Work to be an effective team member
- Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior
- Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms
- Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities
- Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
- Learn techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

- Skills in reading, understanding and following safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students and staff.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of District requirements and Board policies
- Ability to work independently and to communicate proactively

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Work is predominantly outside. Temperature � normal climate, occasional adverse weather conditions.

Retention of this position will be communicated with the individual following the postseason evaluation between the head coach and KSD athletic director.
