Job Description:
Currently seeking a skilled and motivated Tubing/Prefab/Instrumentation Technician to join the SPC Shop team in Bridgeville, PA. This role focuses on the installation of stainless steel (SS) tubing and instrumentation within pre-fabricated buildings (typically connex boxes) and skids. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, the ability to follow detailed plans, and a willingness to learn and grow within the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install stainless steel tubing (typically 3/8” and occasionally ½”) in pre-fabricated buildings and skids.
- Measure, cut, and bend tubing to ensure accurate, efficient, and aesthetically sound installations.
- Install instruments, including preparing threaded connections with pipe tape or dope and securing instruments to ports (typically 1” or smaller).
- Run tubing from ports to instruments according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and fabrication drawings.
- Ensure all tubing and instrumentation installations meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with all safety protocols.
- Assist with other shop fabrication tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience with stainless steel tubing installation preferred; hands-on training available for less experienced candidates.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation installation and piping thread preparation.
- Ability to measure, cut, and bend tubing accurately.
- Familiarity with P&IDs and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work indoors in a shop environment, standing for extended periods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and willingness to learn and grow in a technical role.
Preferred Experience:
- Some previous experience in instrumentation, tubing, or skid fabrication.
- Understanding of standard tubing fittings, bends, and routing techniques.
- Knowledge of industrial shop safety practices.
