The Kaish Family Art Project seeks a Catalogue Raisonné and Collections Manager to lead the development of the Luise Kaish Catalogue Raisonné while overseeing the care, documentation, and accessibility of the collection.
This is a hands-on, mid-level role for a highly organized and intellectually engaged professional who can manage a major scholarly publication while coordinating collections, research, and operations. The position offers a unique opportunity to play a central role in advancing the legacy of sculptor Luise Kaish.
Responsibilities
Catalogue Raisonné Leadership
- Manage and execute the Catalogue Raisonné project, including timelines, contracts, and coordination across constituents
- Establish and maintain editorial standards, style guidelines, and criteria for inclusion
- Conduct research, cataloging, and verification of artworks, including provenance, exhibition history, and bibliography
- Maintain and manage CR software system and respond to external scholarly inquiries
- Prepare project updates for leadership and coordinate with legal advisors and the advisory panel
Collections & Operations
- Maintain the collection management system, ensuring accurate records, inventory, and object locations for both Luise and Morton Kaish
- Coordinate artwork logistics, including packing, shipping, storage, condition reporting, and loans
- Organize and maintain collection, exhibition, and research documentation
- Support exhibition planning, studio visits, and artwork preparation
- Coordinate with external partners, including shippers, conservators, and rights organizations
- Track expenses and support budget oversight related to collections and CR activities
- Oversee and maintain collection-related components of internal operational systems, including calendars, contact databases, and tracking tools, ensuring accuracy, organization, and accessibility
- Contribute content to collection-based communications, including website updates and newsletters
- Ensure alignment between collections data and Catalogue Raisonné research
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience working on a Catalogue Raisonné project
- 1-3 years experience in a museum, gallery, artist studio, or foundation
- Strong research, writing, and editorial skills
- Experience with collections management systems (Airtable or similar)
- Knowledge of art handling, registration, and collections care
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and email platforms
- Strong communication skills and professionalism
Preferred Experience
- M.A. in Art History or equivalent experience
- Archival research experience
- Familiarity with loans, condition reporting, and art logistics
- Experience supporting scholarly publications
This is a collaborative, detail-driven position for a candidate who thrives at the intersection of scholarship and practice. Location: NYC (on-site 5 days/week with possibility of a remote day)

Compensation: Salary $70-90K with monthly single health care stipend
