The Opportunity

As an Elevator Service & Modernization Mechanic, you'll keep our customers' elevators operating safely and reliably while delivering modernization projects that extend the life and performance of existing equipment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs and modernization work on hydraulic and traction elevator systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications to diagnose faults and complete repairs and modernization work.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and performance.
  • Install and replace components as part of modernization projects.
  • Respond to service calls and troubleshoot equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Build strong relationships with customers through professional, reliable service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and recommend appropriate repair or modernization solutions.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records and required documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite at all times.
  • Follow OSHA, ASME A17.1 and Kaiser safety and quality standards.
  • Represent Kaiser professionally on every customer site.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience servicing, repairing and modernizing commercial elevator systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic and traction elevators.
  • Previous experience with an independent elevator contractor preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams and service documentation.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality workmanship.

Location & Travel

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee (or as agreed).
Travel: Travel to customer sites throughout Tennessee, generally within approximately three hours of Knoxville (six-hour round trip). Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on customer or project location, with accommodation provided by Kaiser. Attendance at annual company retreats is expected.

Pay: $48.00 - $75.00 per hour
