Lead large, enterprise-wide, cross-functional programs ($15-50 Million) with complex scope and high transformational impact. Drive strategic initiatives across markets, translating business needs into scalable IT solutions by aligning business, IT, and vendor teams. Build strong partnerships with senior IT, business, physician, and financial leaders to accelerate delivery through disciplined execution and continuous improvement. Preferred: strong knowledge of Kaiser IT and business processes and the ability to navigate enterprise structures; experience applying Rules of Flow and/or Theory of Constraints to improve throughput; Applying Strategic Project Leadership (SPL), and experience supporting governance bodies and structuring programs for effectiveness.
Job Summary:

This senior level employee is primarily responsible for determining program budgets, creating project management methodology based on expertise, managing overall pursuits and projects, leading departmental or cross-functional teams.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Drives the execution of multiple work streams by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and updating new procedures and policies; gaining cross-functional support for objectives and priorities; translating business strategy into actionable business requirements; obtaining and distributing resources; setting standards and measuring progress; removing obstacles that impact performance; guiding performance and developing contingency plans accordingly; solving highly complex issues; and influencing the completion of project tasks by others.
  • Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback; building collaborative, cross-functional relationships; communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; adapting to competing demands and new responsibilities; providing feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership; influencing, mentoring, and coaching team members; fostering open dialogue amongst team members; evaluating and responding to the strengths and weaknesses of self and unit members; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.
  • Oversees the delivery of IT infrastructure and operations capabilities for large-scale programs for assigned business initiatives from planning to completion.
  • Analyzes, integrates, and manages complex project/program plans which include scope, status, schedules, and resource forecasts.
  • Manages and monitors the program financials of large and complex projects/programs.
  • Monitors overall program performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope, up to quality standards) against plan and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Oversees project/program activities related to organizational change management (e.g., development and execution of user adoption, implementation, and training plans) as defined by the project.
  • Promotes, refines, and oversees adherence to established processes and policies (e.g. SDLC including domain standards, Kaiser standards).
  • Assists in the establishment and management of proper project management practices in regard to allocation of resources, schedules and task assignments.
  • Drives the completion of the work of multiple program teams.
  • Evaluates internal and/or external resources and provides feedback on team composition based on the alignment of team member skills and project/program demands.
  • Creates and communicates a clear vision of project/program goals and objectives to the team.
  • Delivers individual performance feedback to team members.
  • Manages, monitors and mitigates risks across multiple, interdependent projects or programs by analyzing and identifying trigger events.
  • Monitors the compliance of project/program plans by ensuring team members follow policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the alignment, buy-in, engagement and support of diverse project stakeholders by building and maintaining relationships as well as communicating appropriately with internal customers, third party vendors, and business leadership.
  • Ensures success of project by identifying and working closely with the right stakeholders based on their level of influence and decision making.
  • Determines program goals, influences the prioritization of deliverables, coordinates all business processes (e.g. project change management, communication) and facilitates decisions necessary for program delivery by partnering with program sponsors and/or review boards.
  • Communicates tough issues to stakeholders and keeps an independent opinion.
  • Reviews vendor performance to provide direction for service improvements or revisions to strategy.
  • Facilitates contract negotiations with service vendors, and reviews and resolves issues with vendor invoices.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum ten (10) years experience managing projects or programs using project life cycle methodologies (e.g., SDLC, process management, organizational change).

  • Minimum five (5) years experience implementing large, complex projects in a corporate environment.

  • Minimum five (5) years experience leading project teams.

  • Minimum ten (10) years experience managing project budgets.

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS or related field and Minimum ten (10) years of IT or related business experience, including Minimum eight (8) years experience managing programs.  Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years experience working on projects or programs requiring the integration of cross-functional technology and/or business solutions.
  • Five (5) years experience in business analysis.
  • Five (5) years experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • Five (5) years experience working with Microsoft Project.
  • Six (6) years experience in large-scale infrastructure implementation.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Salary : $184,500 - $238,700
