What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peripheral Vascular Technician position at Kaiser Permanente?
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, conducts non-invasive vascular studies, prepares and interprets test results, maintains test equipment and vascular surgical database.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Performs vascular studies on patients with arterial, venous, carotid, and other vascular problems, both in the clinical vascular laboratory and when necessary in the hospital and Emergency Dept.
- Determines if disease is present from this evaluation.
- Performs the Doppler exam and utilizes various ultrasound equipment for testing.
- Performs Physiologic lower and upper extremity arterial exams.
- Performs TcPo2 studies.
- Performs Transcranial doppler evaluations.
- Performs various office functions including scheduling patients, maintaining equipment, preparing correspondence and ordering supplies.
- Coordinates monthly vascular conference.
- Ensures that work area is clean, stocked and orderly; maintains adequate records.
- Performs other duties, as required.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Graduate of an accredited vascular technology program.
- Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited programs.
License, Certification, Registration
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR Registered Vascular Technician Certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in providing direct patient care for in-patient and out-patient vascular studies; If not already certified, must pass specialized certification within one year.
- Spanish speaking.
- Strong computer skills.
- Experience using the following equipment - SIEMENS Sequoia ultrasound, PHILIPS Parks ultrasound, Zonare portable ultrasound.
- ARDMS/RVT; 2 yrs experience providing inpt and outpt vascular studies.
- Experience using PHILIPS, Parks, GE Logiq, Zonare US, strong computer skills.
Notes:
- Scheduled work hours per week will be 20-32.
- Varied shifts, varied locations.
- Will travel to all KP San Diego Vascular Surgery/Vascular Lab sites
