Role Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a compassionate and skilled Optometrist to join our collaborative eye care team in Sacramento, California. This is a full-time, on-site position providing comprehensive primary eye care to a diverse patient population while working alongside ophthalmologists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals within an integrated healthcare system.

The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases and disorders, prescribe corrective lenses, evaluate visual function, and provide preventive eye care services. Responsibilities also include fitting contact lenses, managing urgent eye care needs, educating patients on ocular health, and developing individualized treatment plans that support long-term vision health.

The successful candidate will utilize advanced diagnostic technology and electronic health record systems while maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The role also includes collaborating with multidisciplinary care teams, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to Kaiser Permanente's commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited college or school of Optometry.
• Active, unrestricted California Optometry license, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to employment.
• Completion of an accredited Optometry Residency is preferred.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and management of ocular disease, contact lens fitting, and urgent eye care.
• Thorough knowledge of ocular pathology, visual disorders, and evidence-based treatment practices.
• Strong communication and patient education skills with the ability to explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive care recommendations.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment and collaborate with physicians, specialists, nurses, and support staff.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
• Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
• Previous clinical experience is preferred; however, qualified recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

The anticipated annual salary for this position ranges from $230,453.00 to $275,423.00. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including professional experience, qualifications, licensure, and applicable organizational compensation guidelines.
