Role Overview:
- The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial construction projects. This role is essential in supporting project bids, ensuring profitability, and maintaining the company’s reputation for precision and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of competitive advantages in the industry to aid the bidding process
- Review bid packages
- Create estimates that include costs for industrial mechanical projects, specifically piping.
- Develop bid proposals and obtain pricing from sub-contractors
- Attend meetings and walk-throughs
- Determine strategic approach for any voluntary alternates
- Review take-offs with field operations and engineering
- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Obtain accurate quotes for materials and systems to establish accurate cost estimate
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience estimating industrial and commercial construction projects
- Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
- 3 - 5 years' of estimating commercial/industrial mechanical systems/utility systems required
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills; proficiency with estimation and project management software.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices in industrial construction and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read plans
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and under tight deadlines.
- Assist in value engineering, continuous improvement, and cost-saving initiatives for complex industrial and commercial projects.
