About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer to support USSTRATCOM initiatives in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering processes, cybersecurity compliance, and enterprise infrastructure modernization.
What you'll do
Design, deploy, and maintain systems compliant with DoD cybersecurity policies and regulations, including:
- DoD 8500 series Directives and Instructions (Cybersecurity / Information Assurance / RMF)
- DoD 8100 series Directives (Cyber Workforce)
- CNSSI 1253 (Security Controls for National Security Systems)
Apply equivalent Commercial/Industry cybersecurity standards when DoD-specific experience is not available.
Support USSTRATCOM's DoD-D 8140 Cyber Workforce program by obtaining required certifications within 6 months of notification.
Perform advanced Systems Engineering (SE) processes, including:
- Requirements Tradeoff, Cost Estimation, Technical Assessments
- Technical Planning, Configuration Control Boards
- Capabilities-Based Assessments, Integrated Baseline Review
- Lifecycle Sustainment Planning, Information Assurance/Cybersecurity
- Requirements Traceability, Systems Engineering Plan, Work Breakdown Structure
Develop and present complex technical documentation and briefings to senior leadership (O-6/GS-15 or equivalent).
Lead efforts in Enterprise Compute, Storage, and Backup solutions, leveraging modern techniques and software-defined approaches for IaaS/PaaS.
Manage and operate data processing, storage, and backup systems supporting USSTRATCOM infrastructure and operations.
Qualifications
- Cybersecurity Experience
- Minimum 1 year of documented training or experience in DoD cybersecurity compliance or equivalent commercial standards.
- Certifications
- Must obtain DoD-D 8140 Cyber Workforce certification within 6 months of notification.
- For Systems Requirements Planner role, one of the following:
- CISSP
- CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP )
- GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA)
- GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC)
- ISSEP
- Communication Skills
- At least 5 years of experience developing and presenting complex written and oral products to senior leaders.
- Systems Engineering Experience
- Minimum 8 years as an IT Systems Engineer supporting SE processes.
- Education substitution:
- Master's in Engineering or Computer Science = 3 years SE experience
- Bachelor's in Engineering or Computer Science = 1 year SE experience
- Technical Expertise
- Senior-level knowledge in enterprise compute, storage, and backup solutions.
- Experience with tools and technologies for managing data processing and storage systems.
- Additional Certification
- Active intermediate or higher technical certification such as:
- CompTIA Server
- INCOSE ASEP
- Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- SNIA Certified Storage Networking Expert
- Or similar Information Systems Engineering certification.
