Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes accurately
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems , or eClinicalWorks, maintaining an organized calendar
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, direct calls appropriately, and relay messages promptly
- Maintain and update medical records and documentation review to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical billing and collections by processing payments, submitting claims, and following up on outstanding balances
- Support clinical staff by managing patient intake forms, medical history documentation, and coordinating care plans as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, including front desk or administrative support roles
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems, and medical billing procedures
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is advantageous for understanding workflow and documentation requirements
