About Kaige Kubota
Kaige Kubota is a fast-growing, customer-focused Kubota equipment dealership serving West Texas. We sell, rent, and service compact and heavy equipment for both residential and commercial customers. As we continue to expand both our dealership and rental operations, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to take ownership of our financial systems, ensure clean and accurate accounting, and provide leadership across our finance team.We are transitioning systems, improving workflows, and building an efficient, scalable back-end operation. The Controller will play a critical role in stabilizing and strengthening our financial foundation.
Position Overview
The Controller is responsible for the full financial management of Kaige Kubota and its rental division. This role will lead all accounting functions, perform monthly close, reconcile and clean up the complete balance sheet, produce accurate financial statements, and work closely with the management team to analyze performance and drive smarter decision-making.
This position also supervises accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistent processes.
This is a hands-on role—ideal for someone who excels in both high-level financial strategy and detailed data work.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee and manage all accounting operations for both the dealership and rental company.
- Reconcile the entire balance sheet monthly, including cleanup of existing accounts and legacy discrepancies.
- Ensure accuracy of all general ledger entries and maintain a clean chart of accounts.
- Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Run and distribute monthly financial reports; present findings and trends to ownership and management.
- Oversee cash flow management, forecasting, and banking relationships.
- Manage sales tax reporting, property tax filings, and assist CPA firm with year-end tax preparations.
Team Leadership & Process Oversight
- Supervise AR and AP staff, ensuring accurate posting, collections, vendor management, and payment workflows.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on proper accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Develop, document, and enforce standard operating procedures for all financial processes.
- Work closely with service, parts, rental, and sales departments to ensure proper revenue recognition and coding.
Operational & System Improvements
- Clean up and reconcile historical data related to the ERP transition.
- Implement internal controls to reduce errors, tighten processes, and improve accuracy.
- Streamline reporting across all departments and set up dashboards where necessary.
- Assist with budget creation, forecasting, and departmental spend management.
- Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with Kubota, vendor, and corporate reporting requirements.
Rental & Dealership-Specific Duties
- Monitor inventory accuracy for whole goods, rental fleet, parts, and work-in-progress.
- Reconcile flooring statements, demo units, and rental equipment depreciation schedules.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of service job costings and parts postings.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Expert-level Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, multi-sheet formulas, large-dataset analysis).
- 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a dealership, rental, or inventory-heavy business.
- Proven experience cleaning up and reconciling complex balance sheets.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience leading and developing an accounting or finance team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting leadership.
Preferred
- Experience in equipment dealerships, rental operations, construction, or manufacturing.
- Experience with dealership/rental ERP systems.
- Experience managing inventory-based businesses with multiple revenue streams.
- CPA, CMA, or master’s degree in accounting (not required but a plus).
