The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and sashimi while maintaining consistency, presentation, cleanliness, and food-safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, team-focused, and experienced in a fast-paced, upscale restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other menu items according to recipe and presentation standards.
- Demonstrate strong fish-slicing, sushi-rolling, and sushi rice preparation techniques.
- Follow direction from the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs for daily preparation, opening, and closing procedures.
- Maintain proper portioning, quality, freshness, and consistency of all food items.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, kitchen, equipment, and utensils.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and company standards.
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure efficient service and timely execution.
- Handle kitchen equipment safely and maintain a professional appearance and uniform.
Qualifications
- 1 year of sushi experience in a fast-paced, upscale restaurant required.
- Strong knowledge of sushi varieties, fish preparation, and rolling techniques.
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and restaurant service standards.
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a high-volume team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and passion for quality.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
