Kafka have been in a constant state of expansion, one of our needs is Mechanical Designers.
Position Description:
This position is for a motivated individual interested in learning the design of conveyors and equipment that supports the aggregate and mining industry. In this position you will be creating mechanical prints using Solidworks to produce conveyors and supporting equipment.
To excel in this role, the candidate should be willing to learn to review specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts. The candidate will work with sales, engineers, manufacturing and our clients to understand requirements for projects.
The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced engineering environment and be detail oriented with a continuous-improvement mindset. Candidate should be able to work effectively on a team and/or independently and be effective at communicating professionally with others in sometimes stressful situations.
Natural motivation, positive attitude/aptitude and an outstanding attention to detail are recommended.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge of drawing standards and fabrication practices.
Learn from our Mechanical Designers how to work with sales, manufacturing and clients to understand the needs and requirements for a new project or mechanical system.
Learn the process of determining material and specifications, then how to use CAD software to plan and develop models.
Create burn templates with Solidworks for our plasma cutter.
Work with manufacturing to make improvements and resolve issues.
Work in a team-based environment to bring projects from concept to completion.
Provide support, including but not limited to: data entry, reports, scanning needs, and general office tasks.
Follow strict safety regulations.
Assist with other projects as needed.
The day to day may consist of the following (modeling, drawing, and detailing):
· Model and detail stairs, handrails, trusses, and chassis.
· Model and detail columns, girders, beams, vertical and horizontal bracing.
· Model and detail complex geometry for hoppers.
· Model and detail connections from engineering sketches or pictures.
· Incorporate approval and checking changes into production drawings.
· Incorporate design changes to the model and drawings and track hours for change orders.
· Identifies and fixes failed connections effectively.
Qualifications: (One or more of the following)
One (1) year experience as a Detailer/Designer.
One (1) year experience using Solidworks (Three (3) years preferred)
Experience with Solidworks PDM is a plus.
Associate degree in mechanical design or comparable discipline.
Completion from an accredited detailing/drafting program or Solidworks Certification.
· Knowledge of Solidworks sheet metal is required.
· Knowledge of Solidworks weldments helpful but not required.
Working knowledge of welding and its associated documentation is a plus.
Completion from an accredited detailing/drafting program or SolidWorks Certification.
