Pay: $30-$35 per hour DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Some Saturdays | Overtime Available
Kaelberer Construction is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator / Groundsman to join our underground utility and sitework team. This position combines heavy equipment operation with hands-on field work supporting excavation, grading, water/sewer installation, and site preparation projects.
Candidates should be comfortable working both in equipment and on the ground as project needs require.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, skid steers, payloaders, and related equipment safely
- Assist with excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling operations
- Install water, sewer, and storm utility systems
- Read site plans, elevations, and underground utility specifications
- Set and verify grade using lasers and transit levels
- Utilize trench boxes and compaction equipment properly
- Load, move, and manage materials delivered to job sites
- Support crews with general labor and groundwork tasks as needed
- Maintain safe and organized job sites
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience
- Construction or underground utility experience preferred
- Experience with water and sewer installation helpful but willing to train
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to safely use hand tools and construction equipment
