This role works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Accounting to optimize workflow, reduce costs, and support continuous improvements across the facility.

Kadant Johnson is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing processes that drive safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Accounting to optimize workflow, reduce costs, and support continuous improvements across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and document manufacturing processes, methods, and standard operational procedures
- Evaluate machining processes, tooling, and machine capabilities to improve throughput, reduce operational bottlenecks, and costs
- Support capital equipment evaluations, cost justifications, and process capability development
- Improve flow, reduce setup times, and eliminate waste using Lean/5S/CI principles
- Utilize Excel and MRP (Epicor) for capacity planning, data analysis, revisions, and job costing
- Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve production challenges
- Design/define tooling, fixtures, and inspection methods in collaboration with Quality, CNC, Fabrication, and Product Fulfillment teams
- Hands-on machining process knowledge (CNC, tooling, feeds/speeds, machining capabilities)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Epicor
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Effective communicator who works well with cross-functional manufacturing teams
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in machining, assembly, and/or industrial manufacturing environments
- Continuous improvement and/or Six Sigma experience a plus
