Position Summary
As a Sales Associate at The UPS Store, you will be the first point of contact for customers, delivering exceptional service and ensuring a positive experience. Your role encompasses a variety of tasks, including assisting customers with their shipping, printing, and business service needs. You will handle package processing, operate various office equipment, and manage point-of-sale transactions. Additionally, you will provide accurate information about our products and services, identify customer needs, and offer appropriate solutions. Maintaining store cleanliness and organization is also a key responsibility. The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and possesses strong communication and computer skills. Prior retail or customer service experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries.
- Execute best practices instituted by The UPS Store franchise and Kabelin Shipping Company.
- Maintain day-to-day operations and uphold housekeeping standards.
- Ensure effective communication with staff and management.
- Maintain merchandising standards.
- Answer customers' questions and provide information on products and services.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Follow packaging requirements to ensure no damage occurs to customers’ products.
- Communicate all packaging requirements with the UPS driver at the time of pickup (e.g., high-value items are signed at pickup).
- Assist customers with copying, faxing, laminating, and binding projects.
- Coordinate print orders with our print specialist.
- Sell and maintain customer mailboxes.
- Balance end-of-day cash drawers.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
- Capacity to multitask effectively.
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and reach above your head.
- Must be able to stand for up to 4-6 hours per shift.
