About the Role:
As a Shipper/Parts Packager at K.A. Group, you will be responsible for efficiently packaging parts for earthmoving scrapers, ensuring they are properly protected during shipment and storage. You will play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting shipping deadlines, and ensuring that parts are delivered in excellent condition to customers and other departments.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Accurately package scraper parts and components for safe shipment and storage, ensuring protection against damage during transit.
- Select appropriate packaging materials (e.g., boxes, pallets, shrink wrap, foam, etc.) based on the size, weight, and fragility of the parts.
- Label packages with the correct shipping information, part numbers, and handling instructions.
- Retrieve and organize parts from the inventory storage areas as per the shipment or order requirements.
- Maintain an organized and tidy packaging area to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist with stock checks and inventory counts to maintain up-to-date records.
- Prepare parts for shipment, ensuring they are ready to be delivered to customers or other departments on time.
- Coordinate with logistics or transportation teams to ensure timely delivery of packaged parts.
- Confirm shipping addresses, delivery methods, and shipping timelines to ensure accurate and efficient deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including packing slips, shipping labels, and tracking numbers.
- Loading/Unloading Trucks using Forklift
- Ensure that all parts are documented properly in the system for inventory and shipment tracking purposes.
- Assist with completing reports related to packaging, inventory movements, and shipping activities.
- Inspect parts for quality and completeness before packaging to ensure they meet standards and are free of defects.
- Ensure that all packaging is securely sealed, and parts are properly cushioned to avoid damage during transportation.
- Perform visual checks to confirm that packaging meets safety and quality requirements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of proper lifting techniques, safety equipment, and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Work closely with warehouse staff, inventory teams, and other departments to ensure that parts are packaged and shipped according to production schedules.
- Assist with resolving any shipping issues or discrepancies that may arise.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to package a variety of parts and materials, with high attention to detail and quality.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously.
- Familiarity with shipping and labeling standards.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and shipping systems.
- Ability to use packaging tools and equipment, such as stretch film machines, tape dispensers, and label printers.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with other team members and departments.
- Problem-solving abilities to address issues in packaging or shipping processes.
- Attention to detail in checking parts and labeling.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in shipping, packaging, or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Experience with handling and packaging heavy equipment parts or industrial products is a plus.
- Previous experience or certification in forklift operation is preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and inventory systems is an asset.
Physical demands
- Ability to lift and carry parts or packages weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods during the packaging and shipping process.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to safety and quality.
Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm
