ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Prefab Support role plays a crucial part in the early stages of the manufacturing process, focusing on material preparation, cutting, and shaping components prior to final welding. Working as an integral member of the team, this position supports pre-fabrication activities across multiple areas, ensuring work is completed with precision, efficiency, and consistency. Your contributions directly impact the successful completion of scraper sub-assemblies and other related components.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to prepare materials for welding.
- Accurately measure, cut, and shape materials to meet pre-fabrication requirements.
- Operate a variety of pre-fabrication equipment, including automated plasma tables, saws, shears, press brakes, and other cutting/forming tools.
- Follow established procedures to achieve precise dimensions and geometries.
- Assist in preparing components for welding, including beveling, chamfering, and surface cleaning.
- Ensure weld joints are properly prepared to meet welding team specifications.
- Set up and operate equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and promptly report any issues.
- Inspect pre-fabricated components for accuracy, quality, and compliance with engineering specifications.
- Identify defects or deviations and make necessary adjustments to maintain high-quality standards.
- Safely handle and transport materials within the pre-fabrication area in accordance with safety protocols.
- Coordinate with logistics and team members to ensure timely material flow and workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other team members to address project requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Provide feedback and support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Maintain accurate records of pre-fabrication activities, including materials, measurements, and issues encountered.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in training and cross-training to expand skills and stay current with processes and equipment.
- Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational goals.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of welding preparation, such as beveling, chamfering, and surface cleaning.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with various cutting tools (e.g., saws, shears) and pre-fabrication equipment.
- Experience with quality control processes and attention to detail.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities throughout the shift.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical certification or training in fabrication is a plus.
- Previous experience in the fabrication or manufacturing industry
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- May require occasional overtime.
- 4 day/10-hour shift work week.
- Able to perform high physical activity.
- Able to bend, kneel, stoop, stand, reach, climb, twist and/or crawl.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted as required.
- Able to work in areas regularly exposed to high noise level and vibration.
- Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
**Second Shift receives an additional $2.00 per hour**
Training on first shift: 5:00am-3:30pm Mon-Thu
Second Shift: 3:00pm-1:30am Mon-Thu
Salary : $2
