Position Overview
K9 Unified is looking for motivated, hardworking individuals to join our team as Dog Trainers.
Previous professional dog training experience is not required. We provide hands-on training for individuals who are eager to learn, work hard, and develop their skills.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with dogs and people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the lives of clients and their dogs.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with dogs in training programs ranging from puppy foundations and basic obedience to behavior modification and reactivity cases
- Carry out individualized training plans while developing the skills needed to work with a wide variety of training and behavior cases
- Learn to read canine body language and behavior to safely and effectively work with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Conduct training sessions both at our facility and in real-world environments
- Maintain accurate records and communicate training progress to clients and team members
- Educate owners on how to continue their dog's training and maintain long-term success
- Support dogs through daily routines including exercise, enrichment, structure, and socialization when appropriate
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment
- Represent K9 Unified professionally through every interaction with clients, coworkers, and members of the public
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the highest level of care and consistency for every dog
Qualifications
- No previous dog training experience required
- Passion for working with dogs and helping people
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Energetic, positive, and capable of maintaining a high level of engagement throughout an active workday
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Ability to remain calm and confident while handling challenging situations
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and move throughout the day
- Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and strength levels
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Compensation & Schedule
- Starting pay: $18.00 per hour
- Typical schedule: Approximately 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Additional hours may become available based on performance, company needs, and growth
- Rotating weekend availability may be required
