📍 Location: Worcester, MA (100% Onsite)

K3 Innovations is seeking a talented Scientist II to join a leading Biologics CMC Developability team supporting the development of next-generation therapeutic biologics. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the characterization of discovery-stage biologic drug candidates while working with advanced analytical technologies in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.

🔬 Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth LC-MS characterization of therapeutic biologic molecules and post-translational modifications

• Conduct protein characterization using size-exclusion chromatography (SEC), ion exchange (IEX), and reverse-phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC)

• Execute laboratory experiments, analyze data, and independently interpret scientific results

• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and established protocols

• Prepare and present scientific data to cross-functional project teams

• Support routine laboratory operations, including maintenance of analytical instrumentation and equipment

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify critical developability attributes and support biologics drug development

• Ensure compliance with company safety standards, quality systems, and documentation requirements


✅ Required Qualifications

✔ BS or MS in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline

BS: 3–5 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience

MS: 1–2 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience

PhD: Entry-level industry experience considered

✔ Hands-on experience with protein mass spectrometry, including:

  • Subunit analysis
  • Peptide mapping
  • Disulfide mapping
  • LC-MS data processing
  • ✔ Experience with protein characterization using SEC, Ion Exchange, and Reverse-Phase Chromatography
  • ✔ Strong experimental design, data analysis, and scientific documentation skills
  • ✔ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and GraphPad
  • ✔ Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

• Experience programming or operating liquid handling robotics

• Experience supporting biologics CMC or therapeutic protein development

• Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities

• Proven record of scientific creativity, problem-solving, and technical excellence
