Duties & Responsibilities
- Pre-Design Engineering
- Perform field surveys for electrical system design, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports.
- Prepare electrical schematic designs.
- Design Engineering
- Design power single line and riser diagrams.
- Perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKM.
- Select lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Perform lighting and power circuiting.
- Design and coordinate lighting control systems.
- Prepare fire alarm device layouts based on the International Fire Code and NFPA 72.
- Develop fire alarm riser diagrams, calculations, and sequence of operations.
- Prepare enlarged plans, elevations, schedules, and details.
- Utilize CAD/BIM standards effectively.
- Apply California Electrical Code and Energy Standards to medium- and low-voltage system design.
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Edit project specifications.
- Project Management
- Manage multiple large-scale projects with senior engineers and sub-consultants.
- Mentor design engineers.
- Prepare client proposals independently.
- Develop new business and strengthen relationships with existing clients.
- Construction Administration
- Review and respond to RFIs.
- Review equipment submittals.
- Perform punch walks and prepare punch list reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Licenses
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to lead electrical design projects and manage design teams.
- Demonstrated project management strengths.
- Skills & Technical Knowledge
- Proficient using AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit.
- Familiarity with HCAI requirements.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and skilled at identifying underlying issues.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
