Role Description The Public Affairs Account Executive is a full-time, on-site role based in Minneapolis, MN. This role is responsible for managing and executing public affairs and strategic communications programs, including developing messaging, drafting press materials, and coordinating media outreach. The Account Executive will monitor policy and legislative developments, prepare briefing documents, and support advocacy campaigns and coalition-building efforts. Day-to-day activities include client communication and reporting, project management, event and meeting support, and collaboration with team members on integrated public relations and public affairs strategies. The role involves working closely with clients to identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and recommend solutions that advance their goals.
Qualifications
- Strong public affairs and strategic communications skills, including experience with advocacy campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and message development.
- Proficiency in public relations activities such as media relations, drafting press releases, pitching stories, and managing interview preparation.
- Ability to conduct research and analysis related to policy, legislation, and public opinion, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Solid writing and editing skills for a range of formats, including talking points, op-eds, briefing materials, social content, and client reports.
- Experience with project and account management, including organizing timelines, coordinating activities, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team setting and build productive client relationships.
- Familiarity with nonprofit, corporate, and/or political environments; prior agency or campaign experience is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in Minneapolis, MN, with flexibility to support occasional events or meetings outside standard business hours.
