Field Service Electrical Technician

About the Opportunity
A growing industrial services company is seeking a Field Service Electrical Technician to support installation, startup, and service of material handling and plant service equipment across manufacturing facilities.
This role focuses on electrical installation, control panel wiring, and troubleshooting automated systems including conveyors, lifts, carts, and cranes. The technician will work alongside mechanical installers and engineers to deliver safe, reliable turnkey systems at customer sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for an industrial electrician or controls technician who enjoys travel, hands-on work, and supporting automation systems in the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform electrical installation and wiring of material handling systems, conveyors, lifts, and automated equipment
• Build and wire control panels, junction boxes, and system components from electrical schematics
• Assist with system start-ups and commissioning activities
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues
• Support service calls, inspections, and preventive maintenance work
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
• Work closely with mechanical installers and engineering teams during system installations
• Complete service reports, inspection documentation, and customer paperwork
• Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and site safety requirements
• Travel to customer facilities regionally and nationally for installations and service work
Qualifications
• 3 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Controls Technician
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and wiring experience
• Ability to build and wire control panels from schematics
• Experience working with industrial equipment and automation systems
• Familiarity with conveyors, lifts, cranes, or similar material handling systems preferred
• Basic PLC or HMI troubleshooting experience preferred
• Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field service work
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working in manufacturing and construction environments
• Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when required
