Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting/HR professional to join our trucking company team! This multifaceted role combines core accounting responsibilities with human resources support, ensuring smooth financial operations and effective personnel management. Duties
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliation, and journal entries to ensure accurate financial data entry and reporting.
- Work with external accountant and provide necessary documentation for annual audits.
- Prepare and interpret financial statements, reports, and analysis to support management decision-making and strategic planning.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain financial integrity.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns (including 941, 940, W-2, 1099), sales and use tax returns, and quarterly IFTA and fuel taxes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal government requirements.
- Provide information for insurance renewals.
- Maintain tractor and trailer licenses and registration.
- Assist in maintaining organized records of payroll, employee files, benefits administration, and HR documentation in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Support recruitment efforts by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and onboarding new employees.
- Assist with employee relations initiatives by addressing inquiries, coordinating training sessions, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies through regular audits and updates of HR procedures.
- Coordinate employee benefits administration including health insurance enrollment, leave management, and wellness programs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles with a strong understanding of financial principles.
- Basic knowledge of payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance standards.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail for managing multiple tasks accurately.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members at all levels.
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as Trucking Management Systems or Trimble) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word). Being able to write Crytal reports/queries would be beneficial.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Nice-to-have qualifications include familiarity with HR management systems (HRIS), experience with tax regulations related to payroll, or certifications such as bookkeeper certification or HR-related training. Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
