What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Manager position at K'STAR, Inc.?
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Work directly with the Executive Director, Clinical Director.Financial Officer, Medical Coordinator, Shelter Cook, Maintenance, and Staff to provide a safe environment for youth in accordance with K’STAR policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Interact with K’STAR residents by providing structure, consistency, and nurturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate weekly staff work schedules and on-call schedules.
- Receive and review time-off request forms and approve or deny them appropriately.
- Set up staff meetings for Shelter staff.
- Ensure that the emergency disaster plan and supplies are in compliance with minimum
- Responsible for delegating the behavior modification rewards program.
- Work as childcare coverage when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Board report.
- On call as needed for Shelter issues.
- Work with the Executive Director and Case Manager to arrange Shelter placements.
- Responsible for PMET quarterly reports.
- Update the provider’s vacancies daily. (GPS)
- Review the communication log daily.
- Review cameras weekly.
- Direct staff daily responsibilities.
- Conduct Performance reviews.
- Conduct daily Shelter walk-throughs, arrange repairs when necessary, and ensure cleanliness of Shelter.
- Provide staff with disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Assure residents have proper clothing needs met.
- Keep Shelter supplies stocked, including cleaning supplies, hygiene products, etc.
- Interview and hire new employees.
OTHER DUTIES:- Cross Training

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:- Possession of strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions using prudent judgment and accomplish multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively with clients, co-workers, volunteers, and the public.
- Work with accuracy and maintain neat, well-organized records.
- Maintain a good record of attendance, punctuality, and neat appearance.
- Understand cultural diversity in the work environment.
- Must have the ability to restrain children in a life-threatening situation (training to be provided)
- Have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one and be at least 21 years of age to drive K'STAR vehicle.
- Know K’STAR Policies and Licensing Standards.
- Some experience in childcare.
- Food preparation and follow daily menu.
- Maintain K’STAR’s Confidentiality policies.
- Computer and Tech knowledge
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is nonsmoking. The employee is constantly exposed to a telephone and a busy environment with many interruptions. The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate. Occasional travel may be required for outreach programs, meetings, and training.
SALARY: This is a salaried position requiring 40 or more hours per work week with flexible schedule.
