What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at K&S Precision Machining?
We are a busy, fast-paced machine shop in Sunnyvale seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. This position is ideal for a highly skilled programmer who thrives in a production environment, takes pride in precision work, and can independently manage complex machining projects from setup through completion.
Responsibilities
- Program, setup, and optimize CNC mills and/or lathes for production and prototype work
- Create and modify toolpaths using CAM software
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and engineering drawings
- Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies for efficiency and accuracy
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues on the shop floor
- Work closely with machinists and management to maintain quality and delivery schedules
- Improve cycle times and manufacturing processes where possible
- Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of CNC programming experience in a machine shop environment
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and setups
- Proficient in GeoPath and/or Esprit preferred
- Open to candidates experienced with other CAM systems
- Ability to independently program complex parts from print or CAD model
- Experience with prototype and short-run production work preferred
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills
- Multi-axis machining experience a plus
- Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or similar controls
- CAD/CAM workflow knowledge
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
