Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Weld Seibi Technician to support new model manufacturing projects involving chassis, welding, robotics, and production equipment.

This position will work closely with Production Engineering teams to prepare, install, test, troubleshoot, and confirm new or modified manufacturing equipment from the vendor build stage through installation and start of production.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical or skilled-trades background, enjoys hands-on equipment work, and is comfortable working in an automotive manufacturing environment with significant travel and overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform offline and/or online robot programming.

  • Support the preparation and confirmation of new Body Chassis manufacturing equipment at equipment vendors.

  • Inspect and confirm new or modified equipment to ensure it meets established standards and performs as intended.

  • Support installation, setup, debugging, and production preparation of chassis and welding equipment.

  • Support new model Chassis Seibi activities from equipment installation through start of production.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing issues during installation and launch activities.

  • Work with Machine Seibi team members, engineers, project leaders, management, vendors, and other support groups to resolve technical issues.

  • Support deployment and modification of welding equipment for new model launches and production changes.

  • Conduct hands-on On-the-Job Training (OJT) and share technical knowledge with team members.

  • Support continuous improvement and Kaizen activities.

  • Follow standardized work practices and maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

  • Travel to manufacturing plants and suppliers throughout the United States and potentially Canada, Mexico, and Japan.

  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required to support project schedules and production launches.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Approximately 1–6 years of relevant technical or manufacturing experience.

  • Technical, skilled-trades, robotics, welding, automation, equipment installation, or manufacturing background.

  • Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting ability.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability and willingness to work significant overtime during project and launch periods.

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50%.

  • Must be eligible for domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with industrial robotics or robot programming.

  • Experience with welding or automated welding equipment.

  • Experience installing, commissioning, debugging, or modifying manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience supporting new model or production launches.

  • Experience working with equipment vendors or machine builders.

  • Familiarity with chassis, body, or automotive assembly equipment.

  • Experience with Kaizen, standardized work, and manufacturing safety practices.

Travel & Overtime

This position requires a high degree of flexibility.

  • Approximately 50% travel is expected.

  • Current travel activity includes Kentucky and Indiana.

  • Assignments may involve approximately two-week travel periods.

  • Future travel may include manufacturing facilities and suppliers throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Japan.

  • Significant overtime may be required during installation and launch periods, including weekends and holidays.

  • Candidates should be comfortable working approximately 50 hours per week when project demands require it.

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will be a hands-on technician who enjoys working directly with manufacturing equipment rather than primarily performing desk-based engineering work.

Experience with industrial robots, automated welding equipment, equipment installation, machine debugging, commissioning, or automotive production launches will translate particularly well to this position.
