We are seeking an experienced Senior CAD Engineer to support battery manufacturing engineering projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining 2D drawings, 3D models and assemblies, facility and equipment layouts, utility tie-ins, fabrication packages, contractor bid packages, and as-built documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong industrial/manufacturing CAD background, advanced AutoCAD skills, proven GD&T expertise, and the ability to independently manage multiple design projects and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D CAD drawings and 3D models.

  • Develop facility, utility, process equipment, and installation layouts.

  • Support mechanical, electrical, piping, HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and production equipment projects.

  • Create fixture, jig, sub-assembly, fabrication, and manufacturing-aid drawings.

  • Develop contractor-ready packages for installation, procurement, fabrication, construction, quotation, and bidding.

  • Define equipment locations, utility routing, tie-in points, dimensions, elevations, access clearances, and installation constraints.

  • Create assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), parts lists, and vendor/contractor drawing packages.

  • Incorporate engineering markups, contractor redlines, field verification, and as-built updates.

  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and resolve drawing discrepancies.

  • Identify potential layout, constructability, accessibility, maintainability, safety, and production-flow concerns.

  • Coordinate drawing and model updates with engineering, production, maintenance, safety, vendors, and contractors.

  • Maintain CAD files, drawing registers, revisions, document-control records, and release workflows.

  • Support production and installation teams with drawing updates and field issue resolution.

  • Manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certification, CAD/drafting certificate, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of CAD/design experience in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, facility, or equipment-installation environment.

  • Advanced AutoCAD capability, particularly with:

    • 2D layouts

    • Plant utilities

    • Installation drawings

    • Contractor scope drawings

  • Working proficiency with:

    • Autodesk Revit

    • Autodesk Inventor

    • Navisworks

  • Strong experience creating manufacturing-ready and construction-ready drawing packages.

  • Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, utility, facility, equipment-layout, and vendor drawings.

  • Experience incorporating redlines, field-verification results, revisions, and as-built updates.

  • Strong understanding of drawing standards, title blocks, layers, naming conventions, revision control, drawing registers, and release workflows.

  • Ability to review supplier, contractor, and vendor drawings for dimensional accuracy, installation feasibility, interface conflicts, and completeness.

  • Experience creating 3D assembly models, detail drawings, fabrication prints, parts lists, BOMs, and contractor-ready packages.

  • Strong practical GD&T knowledge in accordance with ASME Y14.5, including datum structures, dimensional tolerances, weld symbols, materials, finishes, and fabrication requirements.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.

  • Autodesk certification, ASME Y14.5/GD&T training, OSHA 10, or similar certification.

  • Autodesk Vault experience.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Civil 3D, SolidWorks, CATIA, MicroStation, or similar CAD/BIM tools.

  • AutoCAD Electrical, UniDraf, or similar electrical/controls drawing experience.

  • Automotive or battery manufacturing experience.

  • Clean room, dry room, electrode, module, cell-production, or other high-volume automated manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with facility utilities including compressed air, chilled water, process exhaust, HVAC, ventilation, dust collection, vacuum systems, process utilities, or electrical power distribution.

  • Experience mentoring junior CAD professionals or improving CAD standards and processes.

Ideal Candidate
