Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) Battery Cell Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Battery Cell Manufacturing Engineer to support pre-production trial activity, process improvement, and problem-solving initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role will focus on supporting production preparation activities through structured problem solving, process confirmation, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting manufacturing launches, equipment trials, and cross-functional engineering activities within a production environment.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this individual will help drive rapid competitiveness improvements through safety-first thinking, people development, customer focus, and continuous organizational learning.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Support pre-production trial activity and manufacturing readiness efforts for battery cell production processes
- Lead and support structured problem-solving activities focused on issue identification, root cause analysis, countermeasure development, and reoccurrence prevention
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, equipment suppliers, production teams, and external partners to resolve material, product, and process-related issues
- Develop and implement trial plans, confirmation activities, and problem-solving strategies to support successful production launches
- Create detailed technical documentation, trial summaries, and organizational learning reports
- Support process and equipment improvement activities through kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with production preparation activities including equipment planning, specification review, installation support, startup, and trial confirmation
- Participate in department-level improvement initiatives aligned with operational goals and Hoshin activities
- Support standardization and continuous improvement of department systems, procedures, and engineering processes
- Monitor activity status, communicate progress updates, and support escalation activities when needed
- Drive individual development through feedback, training, and continuous learning
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field OR 5 years of equivalent engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting manufacturing production preparation, equipment launch, commissioning, startup, or trial activities
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing process or equipment-related issues and implementing corrective actions
- Understanding of manufacturing systems, production processes, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience coordinating cross-functional activities within large manufacturing organizations
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, and technical documentation
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support overtime, weekend work, shutdown activity, and travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within battery manufacturing, battery cell production, or lithium-ion manufacturing environments
- Experience with Toyota Production System (TPS), Toyota Business Practice (TBP), or structured problem-solving methodologies
- Experience supporting new model launch or simultaneous engineering activities
- Knowledge of root cause analysis tools such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) or similar methodologies
- Experience in manufacturing operations or production support environments
- Experience using data analytics tools and manufacturing reporting systems
- Experience with digital engineering tools and manufacturing model data
- Japanese language proficiency is a plus
