Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor water treatment plants and wastewater systems.
- Able to respond to emergency call-outs after hours.
- Conduct routine inspections of water treatment equipment, pumps, valves, and heavy machinery to identify maintenance needs or potential issues.
- Perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on industrial pumps, water treatment equipment, and wastewater systems to minimize downtime.
- Collect data on system performance, water quality parameters, and environmental compliance metrics for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Able to communicate verbally and in written form through phone calls, in person, and filling out work orders daily.
- Manage heavy equipment operation including trucks, trailers, and excavators.
- Follow safety regulations diligently by using personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety protocols, and participating in safety training sessions.
- Assist in troubleshooting system malfunctions, performing repairs promptly to maintain continuous operations while ensuring environmental standards are met.
Skills
- Able to multi-task, move around quickly and safely in high pressure situations outside in heat.
- Experience operating water treatment and wastewater treatment plants with knowledge of related processes.
- Mechanical aptitude with skills in pump operation, industrial pump maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with water utility distribution systems, environmental compliance standards, and safety regulations.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for data analysis, flow measurements, or chemical dosing adjustments.
- Proficiency in analyzing system performance data to identify issues or opportunities for process improvements.
- Capable of heavy lifting and performing physically demanding tasks safely while working with heavy equipment or materials.
