IT System Administrator

Position Purpose: The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. In this role, you will participate in technical research and development to enable continued innovation within the infrastructure. You will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff and our partners to be successful. 

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Administer and manage large physical and virtual Microsoft Windows environment, including file servers, print servers, web servers, Nextgen EHR, Office 365, and other servers.
2. Manage Active Directory objects including users, groups, and GPOs.
3. Deploy and updates Nextgen EHR servers, EDR, Care Sentry, Welligent, Casewatch. and apply latest patches.
4. Monitor and troubleshoot system issues.
5. Install and manage software for anti-virus, backup, monitoring, and other required Microsoft, Nextgen EHR, or third party applications.
6. Manage the helpdesk support service, which includes prioritizing, delegating, fulfilling the support requests, provide directions and getting outside assistance / resources.
7. Lead / supervise a team of Help Desk / EHR Technician personnel.
8. Develop, maintain, and follow systems policies, procedures, documentations, and diagrams.
9. Maintain, test, and execute plans for disaster recovery and business continuity.
10. Provides support for NextGen EHR/EPM/ICS and related systems.
11. Provide consultation and technical guidance to end users and IT Technician.
12. Represent the team during meetings, discussions, and projects.
13. Ensures that all system changes are documented and communicated to the appropriate users and stakeholders.
14. Collaborate in the development and implementation of strategic plans for enhancing and supporting the health system’s IT environment.
15. Manage project deliverables and system performance to meet service level agreements.
16. Collaborate effectively with IT team members, management, and the user community.
17. Communicate updates on the status of incidents, changes, requests and deliverables.
18. Provide day-to-day oversight of the environment, with a focus on continuous service improvement; respond to monitoring alerts and identify areas which could be improved.
19. Requires travel from site to site and light lifting.
20. Adhere to all organizational safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
21. Participate in required safety and compliance trainings and apply learned practices in daily work activities.
22. Identify, report, and help mitigate unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards in the workplace.
23. Use equipment, tools, and supplies safely and responsibly in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
24. Maintain awareness of infection control, occupational health, and emergency preparedness procedures appropriate to the role.
25. Participate in JWCH’s customer service training called AIDET on an annual basis.
    1. Demonstrate an understanding of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) to apply in patient encounters or team discussions.
    2. Utilize the AIDET communication framework to communicate with patients and team members in a manner that reduces patient anxiety, increases patient compliance, and improves clinical outcomes.
26. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Associate Degree in related field or equivalent experience as an IT Systems Administrator.
2. 3 years experience in Windows server system administration.
3. Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2012 /2016 , Windows 7, 8, and 10.
4. Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCITP, MCSE) are a strong plus.
5. Excellent understanding of storage, network, and hardware technologies
6. Excellent attention to detail and proven strong analytical/trouble shooting skills.
7. Excellent communication skills both written and oral, interpersonal, organizational skills, and problem solving ability to work with non-technical end users.
8. Good problem solving skills in resolving issues with complex systems.
9. Experience within a healthcare environment is preferred.
10. Knowledge of Office 365 / Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Vision, Access, etc) is desired.
