What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Nurse LAC/USC - Per Diem position at JWCH Institute?
Shift Schedule: Per Diem (Hourly as Needed)
Position Purpose:
The Clinic Nurse will participate as a member of a team providing nursing care to newly discharged homeless individuals in need of recuperative care. The Clinic Nurse will also participate as a member of a team in a primary care medical clinic.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Admit new patients according to standardized procedures and criteria for admission.
- Conduct triage and daily physical assessments.
- Perform and provide case management services.
- Take and record patient complaints, follow appropriate procedures in resolving any complaint.
- Provide patient education and teaching.
- Assists in orienting and developing new staff.
- Monitors and/or administers oral medications as needed.
- Participates in patient triage calls and appropriate triage routine standing orders.
- Changes patient’s dressing as needed.
- Monitors and maintains adherence to the Nursing Training Manual and Agency Policies and Procedures.
- Collect blood and urine specimens.
- Orders medical and patient welfare supplies as needed.
- Performs other duties as required by the program.
Requirements:
- Licensed by the State of California as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR card from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- At least five (5) years in an ambulatory setting.
- Experience working with patients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
- Previous experience at a recuperative care program is a plus
- Bilingual Spanish/English
