Job Description
Position Summary:
Under indirect supervision, ensures all company facilities are well maintained and sustained in good working order by ensuring proper installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of diverse electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment or industrial instruments, overseeing plant safety, housekeeping and external contractors as needed.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Under indirect supervision and following standard operating procedures and the organizations Health and Safety policies.
· Performs and/or contracts and supervises installations, repairs and preventive maintenance of diverse electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment or industrial instruments, including but not limited to lamps, ballasts, switches, receptacles, infrared heaters, plugs or cord caps and manufacturing equipment such as bench grinders, table saws, band saws, knee mills, air compressors and dryers, pumps, generators and motors, and to the emergency light and fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, hoses and their required safety signs
· Performs building repairs including drywall, paint, ceiling tile and grid, carpet and tile flooring, doors and door hardware as well as plumbing repairs on faucets, sinks, toilets, drains and valves and exterior repairs including but not limited to irrigation, signs, fence, roof and metal siding
· Acquire bids/quotes from external contractors and oversee work to be performed from start to finish
· Coordinates Company’s vehicles maintenance and general repairs ensuring these are always in an optimal and safe working condition
· Performs periodic site inspections of the facilities, machinery, vehicles and equipment to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, changes or replacements
· Develops a preventive maintenance program and ensures adherence to the program on scheduled basis
· Recommends and executes operational best practices to prevent waste and storm water pollution, conserve energy, water and other resources to ensure an environmentally complaint operation
· Aids in office furniture reconfigurations, furniture and office moves and assists with the setup of facilities for meetings and events
· Performs administrative duties including the receipt, follow-up and closing of maintenance work requests
· Maintains an inventory of tools and supplies ensuring all remain in safe working conditions
· Creates monthly reports to management on the status of work requests and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Facilities Maintenance Function
· Ensures facility safety procedures and regulations are being followed and adhered to, being a strong advocate for EH&S in the plant
· Performs custodial and maintenance duties in and around the facilities
· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Experience, Education & Skills:
Required:
· Vocational training or 5 years’ experience.
· Highly self-motivated, detail oriented with quality work placed forefront
· 2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance
· Ability to operate power tools to include pressure washer, saws, drills, paint sprayer, nail guns, etc.
· Ability to lift 50 pounds
· Able to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision and to multitask and prioritize several facility projects, and schedule and coordinate large projects with outside vendors
· Forklift operation certificate.
· Proven experience with a variety of trades in the maintenance of commercial office space such as the operation of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and safety equipment
· Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations
· Good communication skills to work with others in the organization
