Job Summary:
JW SUPPLY CHAIN SERVICES is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Freight Handling Technician to support daily warehouse and freight operations. In this role, you will be responsible for safely loading, unloading, inspecting, and organizing shipments while ensuring that freight is handled efficiently and accurately. You will work closely with warehouse staff, transportation teams, and logistics coordinators to maintain smooth supply chain operations and deliver exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load, unload, and move freight using pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, damage, and proper documentation.
- Sort, label, and stage freight for shipping or storage.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Prepare shipments according to company and customer requirements.
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Report damaged goods, inventory discrepancies, and equipment issues to supervisors.
- Collaborate with warehouse and transportation teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in freight handling, warehousing, shipping, or logistics is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Forklift certification is preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Basic computer and inventory management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Pay: $20.60 - $24.30 per hour
