Position Title: Cage Cashier


Reports To: Cage Supervisor/Manager


Department: Cage - 015503

Role: he Cage Cashier is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing financial transactions for patrons and internal departments. Duties include cashing all types of checks in accordance with established guidelines; issuing and receiving markers; and recording all checks, marker issues, and marker payments in the computerized tracking system. The Cage Cashier redeems gaming chips, conducts currency exchanges, and provides new patrons with check‑cashing and credit applications. This role also requires securing, documenting, and safeguarding all recordable transactions involving company assets, balancing assigned banks at the end of each shift, and maintaining a basic working knowledge of Title 31 regulations. All job responsibilities must be performed satisfactorily and in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and service standards. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Qualifications:



  • Education: High School Diploma or GED



  • Experience: 

    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience handling large amounts of cash in a regulated or high‑volume environment.


  • Skills: 

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, coworkers, and management.

    • Strong basic math skills with the ability to accurately count, verify, and reconcile large sums of cash.

    • Demonstrated ability to make correct change using coin and currency with speed and accuracy.

    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy and compliance in all transactions.

    • Ability to understand, follow, and comply with all company, departmental, state, and federal gaming rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, including Title 31 requirements.

    • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; additional language skills are a plus.

    • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and patron information.

    • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work cooperatively with other departments while delivering excellent guest service.

    • Ability to remain calm, professional, and accurate in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

    • Basic computer proficiency and experience using cage‑related equipment, including computers, jet sorters, currency scanners, calculators, telephones, and standard office equipment.

    • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by casino operations.

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:



  • Provide the highest level of professional guest service while maintaining strict adherence to gaming regulations, internal controls, and company policies.

  • Conduct all interactions with guests, coworkers, management, and interdepartmental personnel in a professional, ethical, and compliant manner.

  • Function as an effective team member while maintaining individual accountability for assigned funds, assets, and transactions.

  • Count, verify, and assume responsibility for assigned bank at the beginning and end of each shift; accurately complete, sign, and submit a Cashier’s Count Sheet in accordance with internal control procedures.

  • Open and close assigned banks only with a second employee verification conducted under approved surveillance coverage, as required by control standards.

  • Immediately document any bank variance by completing an Over/Short Form at shift end, including a reasonable explanation for any variance exceeding $10; obtain supervisory authorization for any variance of $50 or more.

  • Maintain control and balance of assigned bank throughout the shift by performing all transactions accurately, completely, and in compliance with established procedures.

  • Secure assigned bank at all times; banks must remain locked when the window is unattended to ensure asset protection and chain‑of‑custody compliance.

  • Operate jet sorters, currency counters, and currency scanners accurately and in accordance with approved cage procedures.

  • Process jackpot payouts in strict compliance with regulatory requirements, including proper verification, time‑stamping, signing, and completion of all required documentation.

  • Count, verify, cash, and exchange Rampart Casino at the Resort at Summerlin gaming chips in accordance with internal controls and gaming regulations.

  • Review cage communications and procedural updates posted on the cage memo board and formally acknowledge receipt and understanding as required.

  • Pay winning race and sports wagering tickets when the Race and Sports Book is closed, following approved authorization and documentation procedures.

  • Cash personal checks, payroll checks, debit transactions, and credit card advances using approved equipment and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Title 31 requirements.

  • Issue and redeem markers in compliance with established credit policies, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Redeem Ticket‑In/Ticket‑Out (TITO) vouchers from slot machines accurately and in accordance with system controls.

  • Process front money and safekeeping deposits and withdrawals while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and proper documentation.

  • Count and strap currency accurately, recording required dates, initials, and employee identification numbers on all currency straps to maintain audit trails.

  • Rotate coin and currency inventory using First‑In‑First‑Out (FIFO) practices; ensure no more than three sets of initials appear on each strap to maintain accountability.

  • Issue and close safety deposit boxes in compliance with approved procedures and immediately notify the Cage Supervisor upon completion of each transaction.

  • Assist guests with the proper completion of credit applications and perform all related credit processing duties in compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.

  • Conduct U.S. currency exchanges for guests and authorized JW Marriott/Rampart Casino associates in accordance with policy.

  • Exchange foreign currency and gaming chips strictly within the limits established by Title 31 and Cage procedures, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.

  • Issue and redeem promotional items in compliance with approved controls and promotional guidelines.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with all applicable company policies, FinCEN regulations, Title 31 requirements, and Nevada Gaming Control Board regulations.

  • Perform additional duties necessary to support the secure, efficient, and compliant operation of the Cashier’s Cage.

  • Execute all reasonable management requests consistent with the scope of the position and regulatory requirements.

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.





  • Ability to lift, transport, push, pull, and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring eye‑hand coordination, fine finger dexterity, and manual accuracy.

  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate effectively to interact with guests, coworkers, and management.

  • Ability to visually distinguish letters, numbers, symbols, and colors within a normal vision range.

  • Ability to perform work involving prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, with frequent bending and reaching, and occasional grasping, squatting, climbing, and crawling.

  • Ability to work in casino and cage environments that may include exposure to noise, smoke, varying temperatures, and variable lighting conditions.

  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance in accordance with operational requirements.

  • Ability to interact frequently and professionally with guests, coworkers, supervisors, and applicants in a fast‑paced setting.

  • Ability to work safely and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
