Job Summary

JW Industries LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Drafter to join our team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. JW Industries is a leading designer and manufacturer of stadiums, grandstands, bleachers, press boxes, and custom structural steel and aluminum systems serving schools, municipalities, architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the United States.

This position plays a critical role in transforming conceptual designs into code-compliant, fabrication-ready drawings. The Drafter will work closely with sales, project management, engineering, purchasing, fabrication, architects, engineers, and code officials to develop presentation drawings, construction documents, fabrication details, material takeoffs, and project closeout documentation.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Essential Responsibilities

Design & Presentation

• Collaborate with the sales team to develop initial project concepts and layouts.
• Prepare presentation drawings and renderings for customer review and approval.
• Incorporate customer, architect, and engineer revisions throughout the design process.
• Provide finalized presentation drawings to estimating for project pricing.

Project Drafting & Documentation

• Create project drawings for:
• Building code review
• Structural engineering review
• State and local agency approvals
• Customer submittals
• Permit applications
• Coordinate directly with architects, engineers, and plan reviewers to address design comments and ensure code compliance.
• Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Submit and manage project submittals, RFIs, and drawing revisions.

Fabrication & Manufacturing Support

• Produce detailed fabrication drawings for steel and aluminum manufacturing.
• Create assembly drawings for shop production and field installation.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material takeoffs.
• Generate material order forms and supporting documentation for purchasing.
• Assist fabrication personnel by providing clarification and support on project details.
• Ensure drawings accurately reflect manufacturing requirements and company standards.

Project Closeout

• Prepare and maintain record drawings and as-built documentation.
• Assist in compiling closeout documents for customers and project owners.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of dimensional layouts and imperial measurements.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

• Experience with Revit, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software.
• Knowledge of structural steel and aluminum fabrication.
• Experience with building codes and permitting processes.
• Construction, manufacturing, or fabrication industry experience.
• Experience preparing shop drawings and fabrication documentation.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
